Weekend Wonders Issue 4

Hi girls, Happy Halloween!!!

I love Halloween, it's the time of the year where I wish I lived in America, they go so over the top, ever since I watched Hocus Pocus when I was little, I always wanted that big house with all the pumpkins. It's quite sad that I still know every word and the dvd is my most prized posession after my camera and kettle...I need to get a life.

So anyway this week my wonders include, Eyeko Nail Polish in Indigo, I love it, a lovely deep blue with a hint of sparkle, perfect for Halloween, if you don't want to go all out goth...

My cross ring from ASOS...

BarryM Lipgloss in 5/036, it's smells beautiful, like bubblegum, and is the perfect bright pink, I'm addicted already and i only got in the post this morning!!

I'm also equally in love with my new fur hat, robbed from my brother because it's totally a girls hat....he would never wear it anyway. Don't think I have took it off since I got it, so warm, I'm wearing the above lipgloss, can't really see it with flash though, bad times...

My choices from weheartit this weeknd are all halloween themed, YEY...

What are you all getting up to for Halloween? I'm off to moms soon to drink martini and fruit punch, carve pumpkins with my little bro's and listen to Michael Jackson's Thriller. I'd also like to feature in this issue two bloggers, one being my friend Kirtsy, who is very new and needs some support, she makes fantastic jewellery and will be featuring it soon. The second being the beautiful Morvern who I think is brilliant and would like everyone to know about her, so check them out, here they are the sexpots...

I'll leave you with a funny pic of me and Dale from our date night yesterday, after eating a huge amount of dim sum and chinese food, we decided to go to the fair....you can imagine how that turned out, I generally was as ill as the picture shows...

Hope you all have a lovely Halloweenend....doesn't work does it, my bad.

Contraceptive...are you getting all you need?

I was currently reading this article on Glamour magazine's website and thought 'Wow really? A contraceptive gel? So soon we may be able to add conraceptive to our morning beauty routine, what do we layer first, this or moisturiser? It got me thinking about just how many options there are when it comes to contraceptives, but are you all aware of them and getting the best option for you? So I'm going to take this time to speak to you about my personal experiences and share all the current ways you can avoid having that 'Oh shit I think I might be pregnant' drama, because hey he might be fit, but we sure don't want his babies just yet, not when he still asks for xbox games on his Christmas list!

Firstly, I'm not a doctor, this is just my guidance and opinion. I've researched in to this, but please go and see a doctor or visit your family planning clinic, as some of these things may not suit you, or you may want further, professional advice.

The first method, which I think is ridiculous but actually perceived as a contraceptive, is the 'Withdrawal' method, which basically means that boy you've just made get all sweaty up in your bed...or floor, whatever takes your fancy ;) pulls out before he ejaculates. Apparently 4% of all couples use this method, personally I wouldn't trust it, there's always the negatives of, what if he gets over excited and doesn't do it in time? Or that beautiful word 'pre-cum' which can still make you very, very pregnant by the way. This actually also goes by 'getting out at an earlier station' want my advice? Don't get on the train...might take you to a destination you never thought you'd arrive at.

The main, and most promoted form of contraceptive by a doctor is The Pill, in my opinion, I think they use this as a safe bet, but I had many bad experiences on the pill, some made me sick, some made me fat, some made me full of acne and in all honesty I am shite at remembering to take it, I used to have to put a reminder on my phone....what if I forgot my phone...exactly. If you are considering going on the pill though, you're not alone, 100 million women use it, in the UK alone there are 3.5 million women using it. The Royal College of General Practitioners produced a report that the pill produces a 12% reduction in the risk of getting cancer...pretty good really. If you want to go on the pill, you will have to visit the doctor, who will check your blood pressure, this is standard procedure, and you will have to have this done everytime you renew your perscription. If you are already on the pill and your doctor isn't doing this, change your floopin doctor!! The good news is, that the pill is up to 99.9% effective as a contraception. You can get pills that also help improve your skin, combat period pains and you can also get a pill that brings on your period earlier or later if you don't want to be 'on' whilst on holiday. What I'd like to point out and that many girls fail to realise is that, the pill is ineffective if you are taking antibiotics, or if you vomit, as it is absorbed by your stomach. So you might have a stinking ear infection but be horny as a dog on heat...use a condom.

The third method is the Implant, which I have had now for nearly three years. It goes by the name of Implanon, which is the only one used in the UK at the moment, it's about the size of a hair grip and is inserted under your skin, that works out at about 40mm long and 2mm wide. How it works...the hormone in the implant, is released slowly into the bloodstream at a steady rate. It mainly stops ovulation, but also thins the uterus lining, making it a lot harder for an egg to attach to your uterus. The implant is over 99% effective and has the benefits of not having to remember your pill everyday, you only have to think about contraception every three years, it can reduce period pain and suits women that can't take pills that contain oestrogen. Although it can mess up your period pattern for a while, whilst your body adjusts, this lasted about a a month and a half with me, I came on about every fortnight, but it settled down and I couldn't be happier.

The fourth contraceptive is an IUD Intrauterine Devices, which was formally known as the Coil, as back in the day it was coil shaped, it's not now. IUD's are not easy to insert in to young women who have not had babies, as it is placed inside the womb. You will also have to be screened for sexually transmitted dieseases if you want this option. They are now mainly T shaped and made of plastic and copper, about the size of a matchstick, inserted in to your uterus, which is about as big as a clenched fist, and help prevent your sexy fella's sperm from creating a mini me. All IUD's have one or two threads that hang in to your lady parts, so that doctors can check it's still in place, or easily take it out when needing to be removed. Sexy huh? About 4% of the UK use this option and it is 98% effective.

Then there is the Injection, which gets injected in to your peachy arse, and at the moment about 3% of UK women bend over for the doctor. The downside to this is that it can make your periods very unstable and it is known that most doctors don't pre-warn women of this...tut tut. Once it's in, it's in, unlike the other forms it won't leave your system quickly and it can't be removed, so really think it through if you are thinking of going for this option. The injection is known to be 99% effective and help to reduce the risk of eptopic pregnancies and ovarian cysts, but may run the risk of giving you heavy and prolonged periods..and be honest who wants that, certainly not me!

Finally we also have the contraceptive Patch, which is a small, thin, sticky patch containing the same hormones as the pill. The patch delivers a contstant daily dose of hormones in to the bloodstream through the skin and stops the ovaries producing an egg. It is at the same effectiveness as the pill at 99.9%. The patch is used for three weeks out of every four and a new patch is used every week, and unlike the pill it is not absorbed by the stomach, so it is not effected if you throw up or become ill and have to use antibiotics. The dis-advantage is that it's visible for all to see, well under your clothes ;)

So there we go girls, hopefully this has helped a little, don't believe your doctor when he says your only option is the pill, because it's not true and he is being lazy. At the end of the day everyone is different, you might not want to try any of these at all and stick to good old condoms, and hey that's up to you. What do you think is the best method?

Also NONE of these contraceptives protect against STI's or STD's, which are horrid and we most certainly don't want. So my only personal advice is, he might be sexy after 3 glasses of rosé and a shot of apple sourz, but nothing is as un-sexy as Herpes, Aids or Crabs. You might believe he hasn't slept around, you know he can't of, he's such a sweetheart, and he might not of, but the girl he slept with before you might of been a right old slapper, who 'melted his heart' and gave him Chlamydia without him knowing. You might not want a baby now, but you might in the future and that dreaded C word will not help things along, so tell him to wrap his wand! I always imagined that's what Hermoine would say to Ron...and with that thought I bid you farewell.

Want Want Want

I couldn't sleep last night, so I decided to do some online browsing, which I'm so glad I did because I stumbled across some amazing things. Which I would like in my wardrobe right now, please, thank you.

Firstly The Little Deer is a quirky online shop selling beautiful dresses and all sorts of vintage, gorgeous, things. I fell in love instantly, if I could buy the whole shop I would, but alas, here are a few things that caught my eye...

1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Secondly, Motel Rocks, I stumbled across this shop through Lily's blog, when she tried one of their dresses, some of the things are beautiful, I especially like the glittered 'Celia' dress below, it would be my 'Christmas works party' dress. I don't even think I have to explain myself about the 'Fifi' cherub print dress, after seeing cherub print shorts at F & F S/S preview, I fell in love, it's my new favourite print...

Also Kim Parslow, if you are reading this I officially ♥ you, thank you for becoming my 100th follower, you don't understand how much I appreciate it. All of you, thanks so much, ya'll make me smile.

Weekend Wonders Issue 3

Firstly....sorry this is on a Sunday, as I promised it would be every Saturday, but it's still the weekend so you can let me off this once right? Pleeease, I was so busy yesterday, I just didn't get chance, but alas here I am, and I have a lot to share with you to make up for me being MIA.

I've loved this week, saw my first bit of morning frost which makes me bubble with excitement, as it means Christmas is getting closer, and I love Christmas. I got to meet the wonderful Emma...

Who was just bloody hilarious, beautiful and oozing style. I have to admit I was apprehensive meeting her, as even though we talk over blog and twitter, how do you know you will deffo get on? As soon as she lost the tassle off her bag and I attempted to find it under the bench....but managing to touch what wasn't Em's bag tassle but chewing gum, our friendship was secured with laughter, and me having an overwhelming need to wash my hands. That and eating a romantic italian dinner over candle light on Oxford Street, getting amazingly drunk on gin, and getting the wrong train home. She really is one of the nicest people I have ever met, please check out her amazing blog here.

I loved the F & F Teco Clothing event, meeting all the other bloggers mentioned in my previous post, and as promised here is the Limited edition Autumn/Winter line, think these items are in the shop now, or within a week, I fell in love with the long black dresses, I wish you could see them better, but trust me, go and have a look in Tesco if you want a nice evening dress for not a lot of money...

Click on the pic to zoom (above) might be able to get a closer look. Also as promised, here is me in F&F Limited Edition Short Brocade dress...I tried it on with my hair up in a towel and I thought hmmmm, but then gave it another go with my hair down and Dale's opinion and decided I kinda like it on me, I've never worn shoulder pads, but as I have very slight shoulders I like the way the top balances out my hips, makes me feel less bottom wide. I really like it, the only thing I would say is, I struggled with the zip being on my own, I couldn't get it right to the top, and just when I tried to take it off...yes I stayed over at Dale's, I couldn't do it, I thought I was going to have to live in that dress forever, but I struggled and managed it, anyway...

I'm not going to choose pictures from weheartit today, thought I'd share some of my own with you, firstly I took this on the train with Emma on the way to London, he was fast asleep and having a little snore, I uploaded it to my 365 and it actually made the popular page, so I'm a little chuffed...

Then here's me and Dale's mom, sharing a glass of wine, before we tucked in to Dale's brothers AMAZING dinner, his girlfriends cheescake with oreo base was beautiful, and I'm not even a lover of cheescake...

I dyed my hair yesterday, can you see it in that pic? Supposed to be a chocolate brown, I really like it, wish I'd looked this good on Thursday, I felt like a right un-fashionable tramp. That nail varnish is gypsy night by Topshop, I love it! Needs like three layers but...

(I can't paint my nails for toffee, so please forgive the mess :/)

I'll leave you with the beautiful flowers Dale got me, along with the new KOL album, which is amazing btw, you can see why I love him (mush).

If not for the flowers then obviously for his whipped cream monobrow....beautiful...

Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend, as I always do, my prediction for X Factor tonight is Aiden, but enough of him, a sexier man is in town tonight, Michael Bublé, enough said. Love you all.

F & F S/S 2011 Preview

Hello everyone,
So yesterday I was invited by the wonderful team at Tesco Clothing to visit London, and preview the Florence & Fred spring/summer 2011 line. This being my first event, I didn't know what to expect, so I was very happy that the amazing Emma was with me, we were signed in and greeted by the lovely Tarryn, who told us to go and get a drink from the bar, and then take a look around the collection. Which is amazing by the way, you girls are in for a treat come Spring, don't believe me, take a look for yourselves...

Mid Week Round-Up

Ok, so I don't know what it is, but I have always been an accessory geek, I love jewellery, bags and shoes, hair clips, bows, anything like that. Lately though I've been going through a bit of a gold/bronze type love, I dug out a few treasures from my draw and also gained a new treasure in the post today...

Ok so from the top, my new scrabble bracelet from Victoria India she's a darling bless her, I love her little customised note below it, check out her blog, she's not just great at fashion, but as I can see from Twitter...baking, stop saying it's rubbish Vic, looks lush.

Then below, is an assortment of jewellery from Primark, including rings and a pendant necklace, the flower ring, I have never worn, as it kept slipping off every finger, but I guess all the friggin food I've been eating has fattened up my piano fingers enough to rock that bling. The pendant was from last year, so doubt they'll have it now, but all the rings are current, so check them out.

Then finally the stacked bangles, top three from Primark, middle set from Matalan and bottom from Primark again...yes I know I'm a Primark junkie, but I refuse to pay over the odds for costume jewellery. Mainly because I either end up being persuaded by my bezzie that it will look soooooo much better on her, or I lose things, story of my life.

My Autumn essentials atm are these beauties, don't really like wearing a lot of Make-up unless it's moisturising, as my skin gets really dry, so I've been sticking to these items, although I don't know if you can see, my Nars Sheer Glow is all but gone, I'm literally shaking the bottle everyday for when I need to leave the house. Pictured, NARS Sheer Glow, NARS Orgasm Blush, YSL Touché Eclat and Urban Decay Primer Potion...

Something exciting is happening tomorrow though, me and Emma are off to London (my second time this week - get me haha) to sip cocktails and hopefully grab a freebie at the Tesco Clothing Event in Covent Garden, I'm hoping Oxford Street will have a bin....more on that when I get back. I'm sure Gem is going aswell, I'm sure she tweeted me that, unless I'm going mad, are any of you going to be there? Hope you are all well. Speak to you when I get back.

xoxo
