So the people at FYFO kindly sent me some footwear to review, I basically got to choose what I wanted from the site and with my upcoming trip to the sandy hills of Cornwall, I chose Wellington boots. Hunter's to be exact, because well who doesn't need a pair.
Now they are beautiful, a lovely navy blue, great quality, they came in a nice box and are actually a lot comfier than my black pair...if that's possible as they are exactly the same. These just feel a bit more snug and don't do that bendy thing as much (you'll know if you have a pair.)
So from a customer facing point of view FYFO are great, if you order from them I wouldn't see you having any problems.

From a blogger point of view, I find them a tad pushy. Firstly they wanted preferably a 'positive review' which in my eyes says 'PLEASE BIG US UP' I don't see why they needed to say that as quite genuinely I don't see a flaw in the company. They seem to put a lot of pressure on their Social Media Consultant (nice girl) to get the reviews out as quick as possible. Which fair enough if you are giving someone something for free then you'd like it to go online quickly...but I felt slightly hounded and I've only had the boots for exactly a week today. Surely you need to wear the footwear out and about to review it properly? Also when I'm at work all week I don't get chance to take photographs as it's dark when I get home.
So what I will say is, great for footwear...not so great at interaction. Surely a company should support the bloggers they have chosen to promote their product/company, not make them feel like they are on an ever decreasing rope and time frame on the edge of a cliff.
You know me, always honest.

Such a shame isn't it, because if they said nothing, you would have done a fair review & nothing more needed to be said. How silly!
ReplyDeleteI think if they want an actual review, rather than just a photo of you in them, then of course you need time to review them- a week is rushed!
The boots are fab though, and I love the colour
xx
It's so great to see an honest review and that you weren't influenced by the company. Great choice on the Hunters :) Have a lovely weekend.

Love your honesty! Hope that it gives the company a bit of a wake up call too
ReplyDeleteI bought some of these recently and I really like them! A bit annoyed I haven't worn them much as they are pretty pricey. :) xo

I wish more bloggers took a leaf from your book. It's good to know which PR companies need to be taken with a pinch of salt!
ReplyDeleteLove the boots though, shame all the snow has gone!

Love your honesty about the company!
ReplyDeleteI really really want some Hunters- everyone says they are the best wellingtons you can buy x
Admire your honesty, I totally agree, even though they're sending you a freebie, you're entitled to your own opinion. Their approach seems odd. xx
ReplyDeleteI read your Liz Earle review before scrolling down to this post and I must admit I was initially a little sceptical - just because with all bloggers I worry a little that they're biased/reluctant to say anything bad about a product they've been sent for free. On the basis of this very honest review though I'm now going to go and order some Liz Earle products :)
ReplyDeletegot to love hunter wellies!
