If only I'd know back then...

Two years and 2 weeks ago today I fell in love. Although if I'm being completely honest with myself I truly fell in love 11 years ago...with you. I'm writing this to you Dey, openly and very much publicly. I could of wished you a Happy Anniversary in another way, but to me my blog is my heart.

11 years ago you walked in to my life like a whirlwind, a 5'9 KFC loving, hilarious and intelligent human being. That made me laugh and became my best friend, you helped mend my heart when all of the other men broke it, you introduced me to a friendship that I had never experienced before. That I have always appreciated, way before I realised it was you who I wanted to be with...I admire you for that and I will always treasure you as my best friend. Drinking beer in your back garden, dancing to Feeder like we had no limbs, maxing out my credit card at university on food for the both of us, cleaning up your vomit when you couldn't hold your drink (that hasn't changed, lightweight!)

But you have grown in to a man that I honestly look up to, you have grown in to an inspirational human being...who makes me grateful for every day I live. You are the most intelligent, caring, thoughtful and supportive man I have ever known. I don't care that you don't un-pair your socks before you put them in the washing bin, I don't care that I always have to re-wash the dishes because you haven't quite got them Gem clean, I don't care that you forget to put the bin bags out, that you can't handle the 30 day shred and that you are incredibly forgetful without a list...all of those things make you who you are and I love you.

I love how you will get up in the middle of the night and get me a hot water bottle, no matter how tired you are, that you make me a cup of tea every single morning, seven days a week, that you say my food is amazing even if I have under cooked it, that you love my brothers like your own, even though they can be super annoying and mess with all your high priced tech. That you respect and love my Mother, that my Father shakes your hand likes he's proud, that my brother's idolise you and you make them laugh the loudest laughs I've heard, that you talk to my grandparents like you understand everything they are saying and nod when they act like they know things about stuff you know way more about, that you drop my best friend home so she doesn't have to get the bus in the dark, that you will get me all the junk food in the world when I need it without judgement (90% of the time)...I wanted to eat the pork pie dammit!

Knowing that come April you will be my husband makes me not only happy, but contented...because I wouldn't want to share the rest of my life with anybody else but you. I'm sorry if I have ever hurt you, for the times when I speak to you like I don't appreciate every hair on your head and when I take all of the bad days out on you. Thank you for being my best friend, for loving me for 11 years and never giving up hope that we would be together.
